President’s message:
We had a very good and engaging meeting Tuesday evening at our last general meeting of the year. Our next meeting is January 9, 2024 to be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open for social time at 6:30.
Our speaker was Doug Reece, who is a local realtor and volunteer member of the Collin County Planning Board.
He was involved in the bond plans for the county that passed in the November 7th election, and he presented facts regarding the anticipated future growth of the county and our city. His presentation of those projections has been added to our website. Our special thanks to Mr. Reece for coming and presenting this information and interacting to questions from our audience. Please visit the presentation on our site and acquaint yourself with your future as a resident and how the county is anticipating our future needs for the existing and future population.
We had a PCC member bring a guest to the meeting who provided us with information regarding the topic of boarding houses and some of the residential challenges they present to their neighborhoods. This speaker has first-hand experience with a boarding house across the street from her home and her comments were most revealing. Fortunately, there was a member from the Short Term Rental Task Force and a P&Z commissioner present to hear her information.
The most recent vote on the EDS redevelopment zoning request, ZC2023-003, passed 7-1 (Mr. Williams did not support this request). Upcoming zoning cases to be heard include the Willow Bend Mall, Haggard Farm at Custer & Park and Lavon Farms rezoning, (Zoning Cases ZC2023-005, ZC2023-007, and ZC2023-028). You can find details for these three cases on City of Plano Planning and Zoning web page.
