March 2024 Newsletter
Greetings PCC members!
It appears Spring has sprung, and it is bursting out all over Plano, but you will have to enjoy it carefully if you are driving and attempting to avoid the many construction sites and road repairs throughout our fine city.
One thing to anticipate is the conclusion of the work of the Short-Term Rental Task Force which is due to submit their report to Planning & Zoning Commission in April and then to City Council later in the same month. From comments made by City Staff at a recent meeting there will be proposed zoning amendments and rental registration for review and approval by both. Some members preferred to extend the temporary ban and continue to refine the processes; however, the majority voted to move forward.
RENOVATION of City Council Chambers begins April 1st so if you have intentions of attending a council meeting or P&Z Commission, please note that those meetings will be held at the Davis Library (7501 Independence Pkwy.) beginning then. The meeting dates have not changed, just the temporary meeting site until the renovations are complete.
March 18th will be an important P&Z meeting to attend or watch online, but your feedback is important. The proposed development, ZC 2023-007 on Haggard Farm property at the northeast corner of Custer Rd. and Park Blvd. is to get its first airing on the retail, restaurant and residential plans for that site. This will entail 258 attached single-family homes as well as other use and it is directly across the street from the Walgreen’s Pharmacy.
At that same meeting, discussion will be also focused on ZC 2024-007, from the developer of multi-family property in the area of Chase Oaks and Legacy on the north side of Legacy between Custer and Alma. Essentially, the developer wants to add another story to the project and over 498 units.
Let P&Z hear your thoughts. You can review these proposals here.
At our General Meeting on February 22, 2024, we had two excellent speakers. Here are their presentations.
Shelby Williams, Plano City Council Member, Understanding Housing and Affordable Housing
Julia Pitlik, Boarding Houses in Plano.
As usual, Shelby Williams does a good recap of the City Council meeting.
