Fry's Rezoning Request Passed 5 to 3
The re-zoning request for the former Fry’s Electronics location on Plano Parkway just to the east of Hwy. 75, Central Expressway was presented for approval Monday at the City Council meeting and passed 5 to 3. The three no votes were Shelby Williams, Anthony Ricciardelli, and Rick Smith. Thus, our city will have 501 new multi-family apartment units in high rise facilities along with 33 townhomes, and ultimately, a high-rise office building and “Luxury Hotel” on the 16.5 acre site.

Other notable actions included a review of the process and results to date on the Short-Term Rental Committee’s work, a review of the city’s budget process, a discussion of the setting of the new tax rate and the acquisition of residential property near Bob Woodruff for inclusion into the park area. A more in-depth discussion of these items will be included in our September newsletter to be sent out to members next month.
